Oak Bay’s dining scene fits into a few walkable pockets, but the right choice depends on the day. This first edition stays inside Oak Bay, from the Avenue to Estevan Village and Beach Drive. It includes daytime cafés as well as dinner restaurants, with the practical details that help turn a good idea into a meal.

Make this your Avenue dinner when you want French-inspired cooking and a wine list to spend time with. Vis-à-Vis puts its local suppliers front and centre, including Whole Beast, Portofino and Mitchells Farm. The bar gives you a front-row seat to the bartenders; the dining room makes more sense for a conversation over lunch or dinner. A useful choice when the occasion calls for more than a quick bite, without leaving the village.
What to order
Beef bourguignon ($33.30) or mussels with chorizo ($37.20) from the June dinner menu.

Book indoor seats through the restaurant. Its patio does not take reservations.
Dark wood, etched glass and four fireplaces give the Penny its old English pub character. Come here for a meal and a pint on the Avenue, especially when the weather makes a seat by the fire more appealing than a patio. Next door to Vis-à-Vis, it offers a different kind of evening: the pub setting is the point. The two venues share an extended patio, so a sunny day need not send you searching elsewhere.
What to order
Look for steak pie, bangers and mash, or the Penny Burger on the linked menu. Confirm today’s selection with the pub.

Kitchen hours end before bar hours. Dogs are welcome on the street-side patio only.
FARO gives a pizza dinner a reason to be an outing. At the Oak Bay Beach Hotel, Neapolitan-style pizzas come from a Wood Stone oven, alongside Italian-inspired small plates and wine. The current menu runs from a simple marinara to mushroom, spicy salami and white-sauce pizzas. Choose the indoor dining room or the patio with fire features. This is the hotel option for pizza and sharing plates; choose The Snug next door when the ocean view is your priority.
What to order
Margherita ($26) or funghi pizza ($29), with a plate to share.

Reservations are recommended. Dogs are welcome on the outdoor patio; takeaway is arranged by phone or at the host stand.
For an oceanfront meal in Oak Bay, The Snug is the clearest starting point on this list. The hotel pub has floor-to-ceiling water views and an oceanfront patio, with a menu that moves between pub classics and seafood. Its September dinner menu includes seafood chowder, mussels, tempura ling cod and miso-glazed B.C. king salmon. Choose it for a longer lunch, a weekend brunch or a dinner where the setting matters as much as deciding what to order.
What to order
Seafood chowder ($29) or tempura ling cod ($38) from the dinner menu.

Book ahead. The hotel lists weekend brunch from 7am to 2pm; groups larger than six should contact the team.
Put The Village on your list when breakfast is the whole plan rather than something to fit in before lunch. The Estevan location serves brunch daily, with a dining room, patio and takeaway. Its position near Willows Beach makes it an easy anchor for a morning in this part of Oak Bay: eat first, then head towards the water. Keep the location straight when booking, as The Village also has restaurants in other Victoria neighbourhoods.
What to order
Try the Big Al benny with Montreal smoked meat on latkes ($25), or keep it simple with Village Latkes, sour cream and applesauce ($19).

Open 8am to 2pm daily. Limited reservations are offered by phone or email; wait for booking confirmation. Order takeaway through the restaurant’s website.
Ottavio is the Avenue stop for a café meal that can become a deli shop on the way out. The caffè serves hot panini on rosemary focaccia, espresso, small plates and gelato; the adjacent deli gives lunch a useful second act. The Primavera panino pairs brie with pesto, artichoke and red onion, while the Pomodoro keeps things closer to tomato, mozzarella and basil. Choose it for daytime eating rather than an evening restaurant reservation.
What to order
Primavera or Pomodoro panino ($15), then an espresso or a look at the gelato case.
Know before you go
Use the caffè menu for food-service details. The café and deli publish different hours, so check before a late visit.
Leave the Avenue for this café in a heritage building on Windsor Road. Windsor offers a full-service daytime meal, garden patios and takeaway, with features that change with the season and available ingredients. It suits a slower café visit in South Oak Bay, especially if you want to combine lunch with a neighbourhood walk. The changing menu is part of the appeal, so let today's offering determine the order rather than arriving attached to an old photograph.
What to order
Ask for the day's lunch feature, or choose a pastry and coffee for a shorter stop.
Know before you go
This is a daytime café. Check the current feature by phone before making a trip for a particular dish.
This Estevan fish-and-chip shop has been part of the village since 1980. The menu keeps the decision simple: cod or halibut, chips, and the usual supporting cast of coleslaw and tartar sauce. The First Mate's Plate is the one-piece option; the Chief's Plate has two pieces. It is the practical choice here for a takeaway meal near Willows Beach, rather than a long sit-down seafood dinner. For that, The Snug offers a different kind of outing.
What to order
Cod or halibut and chips; choose the First Mate's or Chief's Plate to suit your appetite.

The shop currently lists Wednesday to Sunday, noon to 6pm, and is closed Monday and Tuesday. Check before going.
Estevan Village has an evening table as well as breakfast spots. Nohra’s menu gives you room to explore beyond pad Thai: turmeric chicken, southern curries and seafood dishes sit alongside familiar noodles. For a meal to share, look at the Kanom Jeen seafood curry or the Hat Yai fried chicken. This is the choice when you want to make dinner the destination in this corner of Oak Bay.
What to order
Chicken khao soi ($28), with curry broth, noodles, pickled mustard leaf and shallots, or the Massaman beef short rib ($36) from the May 2026 menu.

Open Thursday to Sunday, 11am to 9pm. Dinner reservations are strongly recommended. Call to reserve a table or arrange your takeaway pickup time.
Just off the Avenue on Hampshire Road, Bon Sushi gives a village takeaway run a Japanese option. Its menu spans nigiri, sashimi, rice bowls and bento, with party combinations for feeding more than one person. The restaurant’s own picks include Dragon, Crunch and TNT rolls. Choose this when you want to bring dinner home rather than book a table.
What to order
Start with the Dragon Roll, one of the restaurant’s featured picks, or compare the bento and sushi combinations for a complete takeaway meal.

Demitasse pairs a café and kitchen with a garden centre on McNeill Avenue. It suits the day when you want lunch without a restaurant reservation: coffee, something from the kitchen and a look at the plants. The kitchen works across salads, sandwiches, wraps and handmade pizzas, with the selection changing. Limited outdoor seating makes this a place to approach as a takeaway stop first.
What to order
Ask what the kitchen has made today. A salad and sandwich, or one of its handmade pizzas, makes a useful lunch to carry home.

The café advertises Monday to Saturday, 8am to 6pm, for takeaway with limited outdoor seating. The garden centre keeps separate hours.
Baan Thai fills a different gap from the village’s daytime cafés: its Oak Bay location advertises service until 11pm every day. The menu moves through noodles, curries, rice bowls and family sharing dishes, with a separate lunch selection. It is a useful option when the meal happens later, or when a group wants several dishes for the table. Make sure you select the Oak Bay location when ordering online.
What to order
Phad Thai, or a red or green curry with your choice of protein. Compare the family sharing section when ordering for a group.
