Oak Bay Drop Off Depot

District depot at the Elgin Road works yard where Oak Bay residents drop yard waste, recycling, paint and small metal items free.

Known for free drop-off for yard waste, garbage and recycling, if you have the decal

Our take

Most Oak Bay households end up here sooner or later. Bring the yard trimmings, leftover paint, batteries, small propane tanks and the cardboard from the new couch. Spring is the busy season. In 2020 the lineups ran close to two hours, and the District opened a second site at the rec centre. Green bins have taken yard waste since 2021, which helps.

Local tipYou need a decal, which lasts five years. Bring proof of an Oak Bay address. It's vehicles only, and on busy days cars can be turned away before closing.
