Our take
Fairway is a Victoria-born family chain. Don Yuen, whose family had run a grocery in China for three generations, opened the first store on Gorge Road in 1963. This spot has been a Fairway since about the mid-1990s, and a grocery long before that. It's the Village's everyday store: open early, open late, with sushi, salads and grab-and-go dinners in the deli.
