Our take
Barclay's has been on the Avenue since 1986, and the Beattie family has run it for decades since moving from New Zealand. Their daughter Danielle, a GIA graduate gemologist, now manages the store. The design studio is upstairs, along with a bridal showroom. Its specialty is redesign: a mother's pearls made into earrings, or a grandmother's stones reset in a new ring. One client commissioned a wedding ring that gains a stone every anniversary.
