Our take
Hughes spent about 35 years downtown before moving to Athlone Court in 2020. Donna Anderson ran it for 36 years, then handed it to Rebecca Burrows, a former ballet dancer she had first hired at 19, fresh from Winnipeg. Today there is the women's store, Hughes for Men in the same building, and Shoes by Hughes up the Avenue beside Rogers'.
