Ivy's Bookshop
Independent bookshop in Oak Bay Village since 1964, selling new books, puzzles, gifts and art supplies, with special orders.
Known for the staff picks shelf across from the counter
Our take
Ivy Mickelson opened the shop on May 28, 1964. Margaret Atwood, Robertson Davies and Farley Mowat all came through in the early years. Megan Scott has owned it since 2001 and calls it a bookstore with staff picks, which sums it up: about 20,000 books in 1,000 square feet, and people at the counter who will tell you which ones to read. Some regulars drop in every day, sometimes just for a chat.
