The Avenue Gallery
Commercial gallery at 2184 Oak Bay Avenue showing and selling contemporary Canadian painting, sculpture, glass and jewellery since 2002.
Known for Canadian art only, led by Bi Yuan Cheng's landscapes
Our take
Heather Wheeler opened the gallery in 2002 and showed only Canadian artists from the start. After she died in 2022, her husband and staff kept the doors open. In June 2025 Kathleen Prince, who started there in 2014, took over. Bi Yuan Cheng's landscapes are the gallery's signature, alongside raku, soapstone, glass and jewellery.
Local tipThe phone number ends in 2184, the same as the street address. Handy if you ever need to remember it.
