The driver stopped in a school zone outside Oak Bay High, blocking a bike lane after Oak Bay Police caught them speeding as they conducted traffic enforcement on Cadboro Bay Road, near Cranmore Road. [Oak Bay Police] | 🏫 SD61 School board ordered to work with police departments, including Oak Bay Police, with the aim of improving the relationship between the board and the police. The school board said the order wasn’t necessary, and that it had already been communicating with police while creating its safety plan, which doesn’t include any mention of reinstating the SPLO program. | | | Who else felt that earthquake? | Oak Bay locals were shaken this week after an earthquake was felt by several people in and around Oak Bay around 4:05am on Thursday. Community members near Willows Beach, Hampshire, Foul Bay and other areas reported feeling their beds shaking, dishes breaking and being woken up from a dead sleep after a 3.8 magnitude earthquake occurred approximately 55 kilometres below the surface in the early morning hours on Thursday. There were no reports of damage, according to Earthquakes Canada, and none would be expected for this kind of quake. | If you did feel it, you can record your experience here, in a questionnaire from the Government of Canada.
