Some were imaging what theyβd like to see the building replaced with. Some suggested a higher end chain like Joeyβs or Cactus Club would be a great fit, which another commented that theyβd love to see a high-end Mexican restaurant in the space. Anyone familiar with the restaurant or hospitality industry knows that many are struggling with high costs and how to strike the right note with customers. | Some suggested that a lack of commitment from the District to create a vibrant, accessible space along the waterfront is preventing the right tenant to move in. | Arbutus advice | One community member reached out to the group looking for advice on planting an Arbutus tree after finding that one theyβd planted last winter didnβt survive the cold snap. After waiting a while to see if it would rise again, the original poster was wondering whether to cut away the old stalk in order to focus on the new shoot. | Several locals looked at a photo in the post, and several said that they thought all of the dead wood should be cut back so it can focus on the new growth, and after doing that it should be left alone. | Another suggested that the new growth didnβt look like shiny Arbutus at all, saying that they believe it to likely be mint or another type of tree that is emerging from the dead growth. | | |
