Love for Luv-A-Rug |
Community members reached out to the group in order to give a shout-out to local business Luv-A-Rug Services after they helped a teacher whose classroom experienced a leak over the winter break, soaking through their much-loved reading time rug. The company offered to clean it for free and even stayed open beyond their regular hours to accommodate them. |
Throughout the pandemic, the rug cleaning service also offered to clean elementary classroom carpets for free, ensuring local kids had a clean space to curl up into during uncertain times. The teacher described the most recent experience as "unforgettable" and wanted to ensure anyone should consider hiring them in the future for their rug cleaning needs. |

Ongoing library closure leads to more community book sharing |
Oak Bay locals are reaching out to each other in order to share books they had been on the waitlist for at the Oak Bay library branch, which is closed for asbestos testing for the foreseeable future. While any GVPL location is accepting overdue library items from Oak Bay, and the branch is expected to reopen in April or May, holds from the local branch are understandably taking extra time to fulfill. In the meantime, Oak Bay community members are reaching out to each other in order to find and share their most sought after books. Have you tried reaching out on Oak Bay Local for books on your to-read list? |
