Our take

Long before the golf, Gonzales Point was the site of Kukeeluk, a Songhees and Esquimalt village. The club was founded in 1893, 13 years before Oak Bay became a municipality, and its first clubhouse was a refashioned piano crate. The Tudor-style clubhouse you see now went up after a 1927 fire destroyed the last one days before it was finished. It is a private club. The short par-4 seventh along the water was named one of the great holes of the Northwest in 2026.
