Oak Bay Marina
Marina on Beach Drive with annual, monthly and guest moorage, a fuel dock, gift shop and chandlery, and an onsite eatery.
Known for fishing charters, kayak rentals and the big whale sculpture at the entrance
Our take
Bob Wright built the marina from 1962 and opened it in April 1964, replacing a boathouse from 1893. Sealand of the Pacific kept orcas here from 1969 to 1992, and George H. W. Bush came fishing off Oak Bay in 1986, while he was U.S. vice-president. The marina restaurant closed in 2023, and the District's lease with the operator ends in 2027, so change is coming. The Dockside Eatery still serves coffee and breakfast by the docks.
Local tipDon't feed the seals. It has been banned for years, whatever the old guidebooks say.
