The spores have been spotted by many in the communityβon Lansdowne as well as other locations throughout Oak Bay and beyond. While many said that these ones arenβt poisonous to the touch, they should be avoided. | Others posted additional photos of another variety that is reportedly poisonous, but is not the notoriously deadly death cap mushroom, which was making headlines this summer. What do you do if you spot some that you think might be dangerous? Consult the South Vancouver Island Mycological Society resources, or contact them if you are concerned. | |

| | | Collecting shoeboxes for members of the community | An Oak Bay local reached out to the group looking to gather items to give to women at the SM Transition House as part of the The Shoebox Project for Canada. The organizer asks that the items be brand new in order to make the recipients feel special. The deadline for donations is mid-December, and they can be picked up.
