| IN THE NEWS | π Oak Bay Public Library sees record visits this year. The Oak Bay branch of the GVPL was one of the busiest, according to data which show a 62% increase in visits since last year. In 2024, the Monterey Avenue library placed second in checkouts across the GVPL and the circulation of physical materials among the GVPLβs 12 branches behind Saanichβs Nellie McClung Library. [Victoria News] | πͺ Fallstreak phenomenon wows onlookers in Oak Bay and beyond. CHEK provided a detailed look at this strange phenomenon in the sky this week, noticed by several in Oak Bay and the Greater Victoria area. According to the US-based NOAA, fallstreak clouds appear when the high-level clouds that are made of supercooled liquid water droplets are disturbed, causing them to crystalize and fall, leaving holes in the sky.
